Rosebank Speedway
New Zealand Speedway - NewsThe season is only 5 weeks from starting! Where all finished and ready to race - yeah right! Three engines still being refreshed at tuners, replacements for bent parts still on ship, I can see it will be a tight schedule to make it to our first practice with all three bikes ready.
Our club now has it's website up and running, which is kept updated regularly and will post results of all our home meetings. The address is www.rosebankspeedway.co.nz well worth a look.
Our first practice is Sept 5th and then on the 19th and 26th. The first meeting will be on Sunday the 11th of October. Start time is 1.00pm and only cost $15 an adult and kids under 15 are free. An excellent afternoons entertainment.
Season's End
New Zealand Speedway - NewsAnother busy season has come to an end! Sorry about my lack of up dates, I have been to damn busy and not enough hours in the day.
Our season ran pretty smoothly apart from Hayden's broken leg in January, effectively putting him out until our last meeting, when on his first race in the first corner, he had the front wheel washout on him and down he went. He was fine but the bike was not repairable on the day. So much for going out and taking it easy!
Chopper has enjoyed the upgrade to the 500 and has made a noticable improvement and achieved some very good results amongst some talented riders. Who many were supprised at how quick he was going.
Karl's season was a bit of a mixture with some good rides and results and a few big spills and bike problems. He had to sit out our final meeting with a sore head after falling and hitting his head at home. So much for speedway being dangerous!
So only a couple of months to get the bikes back in order and then it all starts again. Next season will see us making at least 4 trips to Invercargill as they have secured most of the championship titles. 3500 km a trip! I need a fuel company sponsor!!! Oh well back down to the shed to work on the bikes and make my list of parts I need (3 of everything thanks).
NZ Champs
New Zealand Speedway - NewsHi everyone! Happy New Year! Another one here and gone. We have had a hectic time over the last month, the meeting leading up to our trip south, Karl had a big off and bent his front diamond ( luckily he had just recieved new one from Misty that week) Hayden done best at the Burt Munroe Challenge coming second in the B grade. Chopper was unlucky not too be 2nd equal after an excellent duel with Peter Stenning, All three riders in the heat falling in turn 1 on last lap. Pete kept his bike running and finishing 1st, Chopper unable to get his to restart.
2008/2009 Season
New Zealand Speedway - NewsHi everyone sorry about the long delay since last update. We have had computer problems, but these are all sorted now.
We have had two meetings at our home track, Rosebank. The first meeting was a teams race with Auckland taking on the Palmerston North riders who were keen to travel up for some early season racing.
This season Karl is running a new GM motor from Sean Wilson Racing in England, and was very pleased with the extra power he now has on tap. Hayden has inherited karl's old Jawa short stroke, but missed the first meeting as it was still being reconditioned. Chopper is still on the 250cc at this stage, but is riding well and beating some of the 500's.
It was a good days racing with Palmy coming out on top 46 - 42. Jade Mudgeway taking top points.
Our second meeting was a best pairs meeting with Karl pairing with Daniel Hanley, Hayden with Steve Mudgeway and Chopper with Barry Free. Karl almost completed 1 lap before falling heavily trying to avoid Ben Antunovich, who fell entering turn 3. That was the end of Karl's day as he was carted of to hospital for checks on his hip. (all ok just sore and bruising) With some fortunate DNF's and falls by the other teams, Karl's partner Daniel was able to score enough points for them to finish third!
Hayden and Steve had a good day with them winning the B grade.
Chopper had a day he'd rather forget only finishing 1 out of 4 starts. A sticking float valve being the culprit and when sorted he came third behind Jade and Sean Mason.
Winners of the day where Jason Mackay and Brendon Manu with Jade and Sean second.
This weekend (23rd Nov) it is the Sidecar Summer Cup at Rosebank with Solo's as support, then roles reversed at our next meeting on Dec 14th with the Solo Summer Cup.
Once again we are making the trip down to the Burt Munroe Challenge at Invercargill on Nov 28th, 29th and 30th. Being only 5 days after our meeting this weekend, we are hoping for a hassle free meeting to make next week a lot less stress free. I can really recommend you make the effort to get down to Invercargill for this meeting, as it is motorbike racing at its best with well organised entertianment and food as well.
Depending on how much work the bikes need next week before we leave will determine wether I have time to update this site, or it may have to wait untill we return from the deep south. Till then Race Hard!
End Of Season
New Zealand Speedway - NewsWell another season comes and goes. We have had a very interesting season, good results and bad luck! Three engines blowing up does not help, but thanks to our sponsors we have been able to carry on. Many thanks and appreciation goes out to Vernon and Vasey, CRC, B & B Holdings / The Sign Factory and especially Noel and Sheryl from Centra - Floor Heating Systems Ltd. We couldn't have done the season without the support of these excellent companies. I would like to also acknowledge all the help we have recieved from everyone else throughout the country who has helped us out and given us a place to stay on our many trips around. Tim and Sharleen Jordan, Pete Stenning, Wingnut, Misty and Brendon (Topline Speedway), Warick Alldridge and Darrin Wilson plus many others who make NZ speedway the family sport it is. Thanks to you all.
P.S Sorry about your engine Jason, obviously it wasn't Bagshaw proof. (It can be rebuilt - luckily for me)
No doubt the off season will be to short and before we know it the next season will be under way, so good luck to you all for next year and hope to see everyone back out there.
THANKS EVERYONE
